Hmm, after algebraically attempting question number 4, on slide 5 again, i found that in both the solution posted and the solution i found included an undefined value... divide by zero.. so is there an error in the question? solutions? or does this mean the tangent line is undefined (vertical perhaps)

  2. Right you are Tim_Math_y! When the derivative is undefined in this way we know that the tangent line is vertical at the point in question.

    There are cases, such as at a corner or cusp, where the tangent simply doesn't exist because the limit doesn't exist at the point, but when the limit is ∞ from both sides we have a vertical tangent line.
